An embarrassment of riches

Well, the postman has been good to me today - a lovely big parcel from Get Knitted containing the yarn for my new project and a couple of other goodies. What's the new project going to be? Well, it's going to be Butterfly from the Noro Knits book.

A rather grainy picture - one of these days, I'm going to get me a scanner

I'm using Noro Kureyon in shade 139 - pinks, lilacs, maroon even some green and, surprisingly, a little brown. Not that it's visible in this photograph.

I'm holding off starting it at the moment - just savouring the knitterly anticipation! Also in my parcel was a little skein of Koigu Painter's Palette Premium Merino in shade PI65D. This is the first time I've actually seen KPPPM for real and, believe me, it is so gorgeous - the colours are just jewel-like and there's a richness and sheen to the yarn that I'm unable to capture with my camera.

I've got a little project in mind for this involving the use of some beads. Luckily there's the most fantastic bead shop not far away - I think they're currently working on setting up their website. I'll post details once I've visited.

I got myself some new Addi circulars for my Elizabeth project - they even came with their own little sweet! (it's not there any more...)

I love Get Knitted - such a fantastic selection of excellent yarns and patterns, most of them previously unavailable in the UK. Plus they post out the orders really quickly which I like.

I have been doing some knitting this week besides browsing through patterns books and online yarn retailers, just nothing really photo-worthy at the moment. I'm currently intrigued by Scottish yarn at the moment. I telephoned Jamieson & Smith last Friday to request one of their information packs and a few samples of their yarn. I spoke to a lovely lady with the most wonderful accent who was very friendly and helpful. As we were finishing our conversation she said that I should expect the package in the middle of the following week "I can see the fog from the window - the plane will no be leaving the island today". It's another world, isn't it?

Yes, I am knitting Butterfly too. As soon as I finish off a few things. I'm also hosting the knitalong. Should I sign you up?

Lots of fab stuff ! Lovely colours of gorgeous yarn. That'll make your heart sing.
Ask Sue at Get Knitted about the couple of mistakes she found in the Butterfly pattern.
Happy bead hunting.
I'd love to go to Lerwick but don't think I could face the crossing.

Gorgeous goodies as ever. I'm definitely up for a Butterfly Knitalong ... either with you or Jessica. It SHALL be mine !

It is a different world btw. The Virtual Yarns folk (different island, same idea !) were so lovely to my husband when he was Christmas shopping for me online last year that he struck up quite an e-mail correspondence with them. I was starting to get worried ... ;0)

I too had a great conversation with the lady from Jamieson and Smith, she has a great accent and made me feel quite homesick.
I love Butterfly but want to choose yarn in person, so am holding off until I get to shop in the UK.
