Spinning a web

I don't seem to have any 'people-friendly' knits on the go at the moment. By that I mean the kind of knits that you can get on with while there are lots of people about. There have been a lot of people about here lately which would explain the complete lack of progress on anything complicated. So I knit something uncomplicated instead...

This is the Spiderweb Capelet from Stitch 'n Bitch Nation by Debbie Stoller. It's a cute knit - only 21 rows on 10mm needles! I was intrigued by the notion of knitting something light and lacey using such large needles - usually big knits are just plain big, aren't they? The book version is done in Crystal Palace Merino Frappe which I don't have and have never seen so I used some stash merino DK instead. I did block it overnight which always improves the appearance of lace.

see those spiderwebs?

I'm off to find another quick knit now.....

Added later:

There is a sort of correction in rows 4 and 8 of the pattern - instead of following all the 'yo' directions, I think the designer means us to 'k, p, k, p' into the same stitch. That's what I did and it means that your stitch count remains constant throughout and gives the same effect as the book picture. I think this has caused some confusion with other knitters....

That's a great, simple, little shrug. I like it!

Oh, I like it, it's so cute, airy, springy, summery, it's well perfect.

it's lovely! So's the colour. I think it's more of an accessory than something to keep you warm!

Ahh, it all becomes clear. I had two tries at that patern and got in a big old mess on both occasions. Thanks. Yours looks so lovely I may well have another go.

You're in a real lacey mood at the moment aren't you? Very pretty, I can see your girls "borrowing" that!

Very pretty! Amazing how such a small thing can look so effective. A very nice colour too.

That looks really lovely. Glad it seemed quite a quick knit too. You'll be able to enjoy that while/if good weather lasts and then again for any Christmassy strappy numbers.

Lovely Anita - and thanks for the update on the pattern error. I have wanted to do this one myself too for a while now.
