Cornish Knitting

I've been wielding the 9mm needles this week. Normally, I'm not a great fan of chunky knits (apart from the speed - very satisfying!) but I was drawn to Penryn in the new Jaeger Natural Fleece & Fur Collection, not least because all of the designs are named for places in Cornwall. However, where exactly is Truru? You'd think these people could afford a proof-reader.

I love the shaping, very hourglass

I'm currently working on the sleeves, doing them both at the same time. I'm not entirely convinced of this a quick method of working. I'm at that point where I know I would definitely have finished one sleeve. Instead I've got two half done. Hmm, glass half full or half empty? Ask me when I'm done.

Thanks for all the nice comments about the shopping. I'm always a little wary of posting too much about my purchases as I know not everybody has the same opportunities to buy yarn but I do reckon that an Ally Pally stash is an exception to this rule - hope you agree.

I just wanted you to know you're not the only one that wasn't overwhelmingly thrilled by knitting two things at once. I tried it with the sleeves and fronts of a cardigan, and stopped after the ribbing... I couldn't stand the two balls twisting all around each other all the time. It was just too fiddly.

Ooooh, that's going to be so pretty! I really like that pattern. I know what you mean about bulky knits - although they were my first love (because of the fast finishing) I'm much more enamored of finer-gauge projects these days.

And that's pretty sad about the "Truru" sweater - I live in Texas and even I know that's wrong!

Very, very nice shaping! I just love the way that cable travels from hem to neckline.
I could never wear such a form-fitting sweater in wool, though. (That sensitive, scandinavian skin again...). But maybe in another yarn... Hm, something to ponder again!

I like knitting two sleeves at the same time, ensures they're both the same length without counting rows (measuring never seems to work quite so well). Admit I had problems with the fronts of a cardi when the neckline was different.
I'm going to try two socks on one circular at some point tho'. That one realy intreagues me!

You'll be pleased you're doing this when you finish both sleeves at once! I don't do chunky, but this yarn is one of the easier chunky yarns to knit with.

Oh I just love that pattern - it looks gorgeous - I have been wanting to do something like that for ages, but I've not seen that pattern before - if only I wasn't going to live in the Middle East - drat !
