I Say!

argyle rib start.JPG

I've been having a lovely knitting time lately with Eunny Jang's Deep V Argyle Vest. It was a personal challenge to try out some colourwork and, to be truthful, I haven't had this much fun with my knitting in ages. There's lots of information with the pattern and the whole thing is charted which makes it very easy to follow. I'm particularly enjoying the very definite nature of the work - knit 1 green here, knit 2 white, decrease on this row - no ambiguity at all which is pleasing to me.

I've knit the body of the vest so far and am about to start tackling the steek issue. I'm currently ensnared in clumsy crochet - my grandmother tried many times to teach me how to crochet but two sticks always felt right to me, one stick not so much.

Most of this was knit in the company of Terry-Thomas. I was lucky enough to receive a new clutch of excellent black and white films for Christmas. Make Mine Mink is the current favourite - a priceless comedy which has me rooting for the 'bad' guys all the way through. It doesn't half make the knitting fly along. I'm thinking that Terry-Thomas would not have been averse to a little argyle patterning - probably on his socks (or his golf pullover...).

Here's the back, looking slightly puckered pre-blocking and with the steeks as yet uncut:

So, cutting steeks next ..... I say!

It looks fab! I've had that on my 'to do' list for a long time, so will be watching with interest to see how you get on with the steeks.

Very nice! It makes me want to get out the Autumn Leaves again. It's a lovely colour choice.

I must tell you that I'm in love with those pink boots. I am having a love affair with pinks and reds at the moment, so I think the boots are awesome.

Wow, it's so pretty! I love the colors. Good luck with the steeking- the thought of it has always scared me!

Lovely :0) I hope your steeking has gone well - it's not nearly as scary as you think it will be once you get going.

I've had the pattern and yarn for this for a while but I suspect it might not suit my shape so I've never got round to it. On you tho' it will be lovely :0) Have you checked out the knitalong ? I think some people had problems with the armhole sizing so there might be good tips if you find the same.

I am terrified of colorwork and yours looks wonderful. Good luck with the steeks. I couldn't imagine cutting into all of that hard work.

Ohhh... I want one! Those colours are so so me and I love that v-neck. Do you give tuition on steeking? I may just be about to add that to my Ravelry queue. Gorgeous. x
