I have made a start on the Autumn Rose sweater but at present it is no more than a few rows of stranded ribbing - not very thrilling. It's become clear very quickly that I shall need to organise my colours before I go much further. I'm thinking a piece of card with shade names and colours written on it along with a sample piece of the yarn. How do you organise multiple colour projects?
It's the half term holiday here this week - it seems so early this year (that's because it is - a whole week earlier than normal). My thoughts have been a bit scattered which is where sock knitting comes into its own for me. I've been playing around with some Regia stripe - just a wide red stripe followed by a wide white stripe and it bothered me that the pattern would be broken up by the heel. I toyed with the idea of different coloured heels and toes and in the end came up with this solution:
What do you think?

as for color organizing, yes, you need to do just what you said, a project sample card. or it will be too easy to get lost, especially if colors are close.
good luck!
Cool socks! I've never seen anything like that before and it rally works! The sample card sounds highly organised, and fun.

I used to do that for complicated quilting patterns but I haven't tried to work with close-in-colour knitting projects yet. Some sort of legend would seem to be required, to be certain!
The sock is wonderful! I love the faux shoe, it's terribly clever.
