I've knit just the ribbing and the first few rows of the body so far. Casting on was a Herculean task - 250+ stitches on 3mm needles. Much use was made of stitch markers and "sshh - I'm counting" in order to end up with the right number.
I'm struggling with a torn ligament around the collar bone - a case of overestimating my own strength whilst manoevuring the BB around town in her personal chariot. I managed to do it whilst negotiating the steep steps into my local health food shop of all places - should have gone to Tesco....
Consequently, I'm taking pain-killers which have reduced everything to a somewhat numbed state that impairs my concentration a little. I was completely foxed by the pattern chart for Autumn Rose last night - must work out a better system for following the colour changes. I was reduced to whispering furiously "black square means left-hand colour - white square, right-hand" which I guess is okay if you are alone at the time. I'm hoping it will get better once the pattern is established.
Posted by Anita at February 18, 2008 02:51 PMAutumn Rose is going to be so beautiful when you are done. Your colourwork on the deep argyle V was stunning. I'm yet to brave colourwork but its one of my knitting goals for this year.
Hope your not in too much pain.
Posted by: Victoria at February 18, 2008 05:54 PMI've been looking at Autumn Rose as well, because it *is* quite beautiful. And I always love a challenge. Did you know there's a knitalong group for that? I saw a single color version that was really nice too.
Ouch--torn ligament! Here's hoping for a quick recovery.
Posted by: MJ at February 18, 2008 06:09 PMOohh how exciting, I love the colours on your shade card, and the little stars!
Sorry to hear about your collar bone, hope it mends soon.
Posted by: A Homely Heroine at February 18, 2008 06:39 PMPoor injured you. Hope you're really letting it heal. She says ! It's so much harder, and injurous, pushing wheelchairs, etc., than people realise.
You'll soon get into a rythmn with Autumn Rose, and it will be beautiful.
Having been in pain and on painkillers to alleviate said pain, I am impressed that THIS is the project you have chosen to recuperate with! It's going to be really great, when all is said and done. I hope you heal quickly.
Posted by: nova at February 19, 2008 04:53 PMOoh! How exciting! Were the star punch-outs on the yarn card your own doing? (I think they're fantastic)
Hope you're feeling less injured soon.
Posted by: Katie at February 20, 2008 03:29 AMPoor you! I can't believe that you're trying to work on this with a torn ligament and painkillers. It's looking really beautiful though, and you've done loads already.
oh WOW!!! i love autumn rose!! I hope it gets better for you, because I need to go into it with the delusion that it will be less painful than I think :O)
