At last, A decent sporadic-E event !

This was the sort of opening that normally happens around the start of June, but better late then never. It was a really strong sustained opening with a very small reflection area over JN47, band 2 and VOR signals has been very strong for an hour before the MUF reached 2m.

The log looks like this:

Best distances were YO3DMU and YO3FFF/p.

I know from ON4KST chat thet Kadrio TA1D was on frequency but it seems the path never reached that far, the reflection area was strong but very small and stable on JN47 so there was no chordal extension.

Note also the few Italian stations worked via FAI, the cloud was very far south for FAI geometry from here JN47. I wish I had looked for 1A0KM dxpedition now :-(

The one that got away was SV2JL on CW soon after the start, right on 144300 559 but 59++++++ signals from 9A prevented completion.

46 QSO's in a short time, I hope we get a few more openings like this one, great fun!

15 July 2007

On the 15th there was a major unusual opening to Scandinavia which I was right on the edge of, but did manage one contact:

16:46 144.300 RX1AS KO59fx 599 599 at 2500km ufb!

Also heard RA1AY briefly.
